Touring the industrial and agrarian landscape of Virudhunagar district during his Namakku Naame campaign, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin addressed acute economic and infrastructural crises crippling the local economy. Meeting manufacturers, workers, and safety advocates from Sivakasi's renowned fireworks cluster, Stalin expressed serious concern over declining production, regulatory hurdles, raw material price inflation, and recurring factory accidents. He stressed that the state government must facilitate technological modernization, supply raw materials at stable prices, and enforce stringent worker safety standards rather than abandoning the industry to bureaucratic harassment and punitive enforcement.
Stalin also met distressed dairy farmers who detailed steep cuts in milk procurement by state cooperatives, which left them unable to recover cattle maintenance costs and veterinary expenses. Additionally, he strongly criticized the AIADMK administration for stalling the vital Thamirabarani Combined Water Supply Scheme, leaving water-starved towns and villages without dependable potable water. Stalin pledged that a DMK government would revive the fireworks and printing clusters, streamline dairy procurement at fair prices, and expedite the Thamirabarani water project on top priority, restoring industrial dynamism, public health, and civic wellbeing to Virudhunagar district.
