Demonstrating his characteristic grassroots approach to mass political outreach, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin boarded a passenger train in early October 2015 to commence the second phase of his historic Namakku Naame tour. Heading toward the hill district of the Nilgiris, Stalin chose public rail transit to connect intimately with everyday citizens, sharing berths and compartments with daily commuters, students, and migrant workers. The launch of Phase 2 marked a significant strategic expansion of the campaign, which aimed to cover the mountainous terrains and western agricultural districts of Tamil Nadu, starting from Gudalur and traversing through Udhagamandalam, Coonoor, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, and Erode. Stalin noted that the journey was not about delivering scripted speeches from distant stages, but about immersing himself in the living realities of the people. Throughout the train journey, passengers shared spontaneous feedback regarding government maladministration, price inflation, and civic neglect. Stalin emphasized that the Dravidian movement was founded upon egalitarian public contact. He affirmed that Phase 2 would vigorously document local aspirations, giving a powerful voice to marginalized hill communities, tea workers, and western industrial labourers who had been systematically ignored under the five years of AIADMK misrule.
