During the Coimbatore leg of his statewide Namakku Naame grassroots outreach tour in early October 2015, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin conducted wide-ranging consultative meetings across the metropolitan industrial city. Reflecting Coimbatore's cosmopolitan character, Stalin met with prominent delegations from linguistic minority communities, including North Indian business entrepreneurs and long-settled Kannadiga residents. The business owners shared their difficulties regarding commercial tax harassment, power cuts, and the general decline of industrial investment under the AIADMK administration. Stalin also held an engaging discussion with auto-rickshaw and call-taxi drivers, listening to their grievances about rising fuel prices, police harassment, and predatory commercial financing rates. Concurrently, he interacted with civic NGOs working on urban sanitation and environmental protection, as well as peri-urban farmers protesting the conversion of agricultural lands without adequate compensation. Stalin assured all groups that the Dravidian movement embraces all linguistic and cultural communities, promising that a future DMK government would foster an inclusive, business-friendly, and progressive urban environment where every resident can prosper with dignity and equal opportunity and contribute to the collective economic advancement and cosmopolitan social harmony of Coimbatore and Tamil Nadu.
