Presenting alarming industrial data during his campaign in Tiruppur in October 2015, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin highlighted the massive de-industrialization sweeping across the textile manufacturing hub under the AIADMK regime. Stalin revealed that over fifty percent of small and medium dyeing and garment processing units had been forced to shut down permanently due to escalating operational overheads, unviable power tariffs, and the complete lack of institutional support for zero-liquid-discharge technologies. The catastrophic collapse of manufacturing enterprises triggered severe economic fallout, causing major companies to relocate their production facilities to other Indian states and foreign countries. Consequently, over two lakh skilled and semi-skilled industrial workers had been thrown out of work and forced into distress migration in search of precarious manual employment elsewhere. Stalin emphasized that Tiruppur, which previously generated billions in foreign exchange and provided livelihoods to millions, was suffering due to the state government's policy paralysis and apathy. He pledged that an incoming DMK administration would provide interest-free technology upgrade loans, restore affordable industrial electricity tariffs, and re-establish Tiruppur as a flourishing global manufacturing powerhouse and secure dignified employment for textile workers.
