During his Namakku Naame mass outreach tour through Perambalur district in mid-October 2015, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin addressed critical social welfare challenges raised by marginalized sections of society. Interacting with large gatherings of rural women, Stalin heard sharp complaints regarding the appalling quality of essential food supplies provided under the Public Distribution System (PDS). Homemakers pointed out that fair price shops routinely distributed worm-infested rice, contaminated cooking oil, and sub-standard pulses, forcing poor households to purchase basic food items from expensive private markets. Concurrently, a large delegation representing the differently-abled community met Stalin to present their profound grievances over government neglect. They highlighted that monthly disability pensions remained meagre and were delayed for months, while state agencies failed to provide motorized tricycles, braille educational materials, or mandatory employment reservations. Stalin condemned the AIADMK administration for its heartless indifference toward the most vulnerable citizens. He promised that a future DMK government would enforce strict quality standards across all PDS outlets, drastically enhance disability pensions, and create barrier-free public infrastructure to guarantee dignified living standards for all citizens across Tamil Nadu.
