During his Namakku Naame tour through Villupuram district in late October 2015, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin visited the impoverished rural households of the Tamil woodcutters who were brutally gunned down by Andhra Pradesh police in the Seshachalam forests earlier that year. Meeting grieving widows, orphaned children, and elderly parents, Stalin shared in their profound sorrow and heard harrowing accounts of ongoing official indifference. Relatives explained that despite losing their primary breadwinners in what independent human rights panels termed a staged encounter, several family members and surviving co-workers remained languishing in Andhra Pradesh prisons without legal representation or bail assistance. Stalin condemned the ruling AIADMK government for completely abandoning these vulnerable citizens, noting that the state administration failed to provide meaningful financial compensation, legal defense, or alternative livelihood rehabilitation for the marginalized families. He emphasized that the poor men had been driven into precarious forest labour due to severe rural unemployment and agrarian distress in northern Tamil Nadu. Stalin pledged that the DMK would provide legal aid to secure the release of imprisoned workers and relentlessly pursue accountability, ensuring dignified justice and economic protection for the victimized households.
