Sounding a severe warning regarding the deteriorating industrial climate in Tamil Nadu in October 2015, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin highlighted the pervasive fear and insecurity gripping the state's entrepreneurial ecosystem. He stated that established industrialists, startup founders, and business groups were operating under constant anxiety that their successful enterprises would be forcibly targeted and hijacked by the influential family coterie surrounding Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa and V. K. Sasikala. Stalin pointed out that legitimate corporate promoters who refused to yield equity stakes or transfer profitable business assets were slapped with vindictive tax audits, regulatory blockades, and fabricated police investigations. Consequently, leading manufacturing houses and potential global investors were actively diverting fresh capital investments away from Tamil Nadu to business-friendly neighbouring southern states. Stalin emphasized that no modern economy could thrive when the rule of law was replaced by extra-constitutional extortion and rent-seeking syndicates. He vowed that a future DMK government would eliminate cronyism, institute transparent single-window clearances, and rebuild a secure, thriving commercial climate where genuine industrial enterprise, manufacturing expansion, and equitable employment generation can flourish without illegitimate political extortion.
