Reviewing the developmental backwardness of Dharmapuri district during the sixth day of Namakku Naame's third phase in early November 2015, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin sharply criticized the ruling AIADMK government for systemic neglect. Interacting with local citizens, youth, and farmers, Stalin observed that despite four and a half years of AIADMK governance, Dharmapuri remained crippled by an acute lack of drinking water, severe agrarian distress, and alarming unemployment. He highlighted that the long-demanded Morappur-Dharmapuri railway connectivity project, crucial for linking the backward district to national commercial routes, remained completely stalled due to state apathy. Consequently, thousands of educated youth and rural laborers were forced to migrate to distant cities in search of precarious manual employment. Stalin pointed out that the Hogenakkal drinking water project, conceptualized and initiated under the DMK regime, had been poorly maintained, leaving several villages parched. He declared that transforming Dharmapuri required focused rural industrialization, rail infrastructure expansion, and sustainable irrigation networks. Stalin pledged that a future DMK government would revitalize the district, generate local job opportunities, and ensure dignified living standards for all rural families.
