On the seventh day of the third phase of his Namakku Naame grassroots outreach tour in November 2015, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin travelled through interior villages bordering the dense forests of Krishnagiri district. Meeting with distressed farmers, tribal hamlets, and rural households, Stalin listened to alarming accounts of recurring human-wildlife conflict. Local residents recounted how herds of wild elephants and wild boars routinely strayed into agricultural fields, destroying standing crops, wrecking irrigation pipelines, and threatening human lives. Villagers expressed intense frustration over the absolute apathy of the state Forest Department and the AIADMK administration, which failed to construct solar-powered elephant-proof trenches or maintain bio-fencing along forest boundaries. In addition, bereaved families and injured farmers complained of endless bureaucratic delays in receiving statutory compensation for loss of life and crop destruction. Stalin criticized the government for treating wildlife protection and agrarian safety as conflicting priorities. He demanded immediate deployment of specialized wildlife monitoring patrols, timely disbursement of fair ex-gratia compensation, and modern ecological fencing solutions to ensure safe coexistence between forest ecosystems and adjacent rural farming communities across every vulnerable fringe settlement in the district.
