Traversing the border district of Krishnagiri during his statewide Namakku Naame tour in November 2015, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin addressed key economic and social demands presented by local communities. Krishnagiri, known as the prime mango cultivation belt of Tamil Nadu, saw hundreds of fruit growers petition Stalin regarding severe post-harvest distress. Farmers highlighted that without a government-sponsored mango juice processing and pulp extraction plant in the district, they were routinely exploited by private cartels and forced to sell perishable crops at distressingly low rates. Concurrently, delegations representing the significant Kannada and Telugu-speaking linguistic minority communities residing in the border taluks met Stalin to voice their concerns. They petitioned for fair employment preferences in local industrial zones and government institutions, emphasizing their historical contributions to the state's economic progress. Stalin warmly received their representations, affirming that the Dravidian movement has always stood for linguistic harmony, social justice, and inclusive regional development. He pledged that a future DMK government would establish a state-of-the-art mango processing unit and formulate affirmative local employment policies to benefit all resident communities throughout the industrially vibrant border district.
