During his Namakku Naame campaign across Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri districts in November 2015, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin engaged directly with local communities and agricultural producers to assess regional development challenges. In rural pockets, residents expressed severe disappointment over the flawed implementation of the landmark Hogenakkal Drinking Water Project by the AIADMK regime. Stalin noted that while the visionary scheme had been conceived, funded, and initiated under the previous DMK government to eradicate dental and skeletal fluorosis, ruling party mismanagement left tail-end habitations deprived of treated water, forcing them back onto toxic groundwater. Simultaneously, Stalin met with floriculture farmers in the Hosur belt, renowned for producing export-quality roses. The cultivators conveyed their extreme vulnerability to market fluctuations, middleman exploitation, and lack of cold storage facilities, demanding state-mandated minimum support price fixation for commercial cut flowers. Stalin promised that a future DMK administration would complete the last-mile pipeline connectivity of the Hogenakkal project to eliminate fluorosis, while establishing dedicated cold chain logistics, cooperative marketing centres, and fair price guarantees to safeguard the livelihood of floriculture growers and promote modern horticultural export trade.
