TN in state of unannounced emergency. Dissent clamped down, obscene corruption & collapse of law & order. CM & Sasikala destroying democracy
Delivering a stinging assessment of the political climate in Tamil Nadu in November 2015, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin warned that the state was functioning under an atmosphere akin to an unannounced state of emergency. He asserted that the ruling AIADMK establishment had systematically dismantled democratic checks and balances, unleashing administrative intimidation against political opponents, journalists, and ordinary citizens who dared to question government policies. Stalin emphasized that while basic democratic freedoms were aggressively curtailed, obscene corruption flourished unchecked across every department of the state administration. The police apparatus, rather than protecting the rule of law and maintaining public safety, was being weaponized to register retaliatory cases against peaceful critics. Stalin directly held Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa and extra-constitutional power centres accountable for eroding institutional governance and paralyzing administrative decision-making throughout the state. He called upon democratic institutions, legal fraternities, and progressive citizens to unite against the authoritarian suppression of civic rights, pledging that the DMK would spearhead the struggle to liberate Tamil Nadu from misgovernance, restore constitutional liberties, and re-establish principled democratic accountability across the region in the true spirit of progressive democracy.
