Expressing grave concern over the escalating public health crisis caused by widespread dengue fever outbreaks in Chennai, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin placed urgent policy demands before municipal and health authorities in November 2015. He urged the Chennai Municipal Corporation to immediately establish dedicated dengue special medical camps in each of its two hundred municipal wards. Stalin emphasized that decentralized screening facilities were vital to diagnose platelet drops and hemorrhagic symptoms early, preventing hospitals from becoming overwhelmed and reducing unnecessary fatalities among children and senior citizens. He noted that thousands of low-income families lacked access to private diagnostic laboratories and could not afford expensive blood tests during seasonal disease spikes. Stalin demanded that municipal camps be equipped with trained physicians, blood testing kits, fluid rehydration supplies, and essential medications, operating seven days a week in easily accessible civic centres. He warned that ad-hoc public relations statements by the ruling AIADMK regime could not substitute for comprehensive grassroots public health interventions, urging the administration to treat the vector-borne disease outbreak as an urgent medical emergency requiring transparent epidemiological monitoring and immediate healthcare delivery.
