Facing an alarming rise in dengue fever and seasonal viral illnesses across Chennai in November 2015, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin issued an urgent operational appeal to party cadres and district secretaries. Noting that the AIADMK-led Chennai Municipal Corporation remained paralyzed by administrative apathy and bureaucratic inertia, Stalin declared that the safety of citizens could not be left dependent on a dysfunctional municipal body. He directed party functionaries to take immediate proactive measures by setting up community medical camps and vector awareness drives throughout the city. Stalin instructed volunteers to coordinate with sympathetic medical practitioners, procure preventive homeopathic Nilavembu Kudineer concoctions, and distribute basic fever medicines in densely populated working-class neighbourhoods. In addition, he emphasized educating the public regarding source reduction of mosquito breeding in domestic water storage containers and discarded plastic items. Stalin reiterated that the Dravidian movement has always functioned as a socially conscious public welfare network, calling upon every party member to exhibit selfless dedication in safeguarding public health and protecting vulnerable families from life-threatening epidemics and neglected urban residential settlements throughout the entire greater metropolitan area of Chennai.
