In the wake of unrelenting November 2015 monsoon downpours that inundated residential neighbourhoods across Chennai and surrounding districts, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin issued an urgent directive to party cadres and district office-bearers. He called upon party workers to immediately mobilize grassroots relief squads to assist distressed citizens struggling with severe waterlogging and power cuts. Stalin emphasized that cadre must organize emergency medical camps to provide immediate treatment and medicines, effectively preventing the spread of waterborne fevers and gastrointestinal infections. He additionally directed party units to arrange clean temporary shelters in community halls and party offices for families displaced by rising water levels, ensuring regular supplies of hot cooked food and safe drinking water. Stalin highlighted that in times of collective calamity, the Dravidian movement has historically placed itself at the service of common citizens without any distinction of caste, creed, or political affiliation. He encouraged every worker to remain visible and active on the streets, extending practical humanitarian aid until normal everyday life was completely restored across every waterlogged district and vulnerable rural coastal village during acute humanitarian crisis.
