During the devastating deluge of early December 2015, thousands of families across Chennai, Kanchipuram, and Tiruvallur remained trapped in flooded dwellings without access to basic municipal assistance. In this dire context, DMK cadre and grassroots volunteers worked tirelessly in rising floodwaters, using makeshift rafts and ropes to rescue vulnerable residents and transport them to safety. DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin issued a public statement warmly thanking party workers for their heroic rescue efforts and selfless public service across inundated residential zones. He urged them to maintain the same unwavering enthusiasm and expand their operations by running decentralized community kitchens and health camps. Stalin underscored that as water levels gradually began to recede, the immediate threat of epidemic diseases, food scarcity, and lack of clean water would require intense civic engagement. He encouraged party units to work in close coordination with medical professionals to provide diagnostic checks and essential medicines. Stalin affirmed that the proactive dedication displayed by party cadre exemplified the party's historic commitment to public welfare, urging them to stand steadfast alongside affected families until normalcy was fully restored.
