Amidst the severe humanitarian crisis triggered by the historic December 2015 floods in Chennai and neighbouring coastal districts, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin issued a passionate call to action for party members. Highlighting that access to cooked food, potable drinking water, and vital medicines had become critically scarce, he appealed to DMK cadre across all tiers to mobilize their full organizational strength. Stalin stressed that during such an unprecedented natural calamity, political differences had to be set aside to serve suffering citizens selflessly. He instructed district units, youth wing volunteers, and local representatives to establish community relief centres, organize decentralized kitchens, and distribute hygienic food packets to stranded residents. In addition, he urged cadre to coordinate medical camps equipped with basic pharmaceuticals, fever medications, and skin ointments to forestall the spread of waterborne diseases in waterlogged neighbourhoods across the city. Stalin emphasized that direct grassroots service to the people was the core philosophical foundation of the Dravidian movement, calling upon every cadre to extend compassionate assistance to vulnerable families until safe living conditions and public normalcy were completely restored across Tamil Nadu.
