In early December 2015, catastrophic monsoon rainfall inundated low-lying areas across northern Tamil Nadu, paralyzing normal life. DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin toured several severely affected localities across Kanchipuram district and parts of North Chennai to inspect the extent of waterlogging and oversee humanitarian assistance. Working-class families, weavers, and casual labourers in these belts suffered devastating losses as stormwater entered dwellings, destroying food grains, clothing, and livelihood assets. Stalin walked through inundated streets, meeting marooned residents and personally distributing cooked meal packets, clean drinking water, and essential relief goods to economically vulnerable families. He reviewed the operations of community relief camps organized by DMK functionaries, urging them to prioritize children, women, and elderly citizens who faced acute hardship during the disaster. Stalin expressed concern over the severe breakdown of civic infrastructure, criticizing the slow government response in draining stagnant water and clearing choked drainage channels. He reiterated that DMK cadre would remain on the ground to provide compassionate assistance until every affected family received necessary sustenance and community normalcy was steadily restored across every inundated neighbourhood in North Chennai and rural Kanchipuram.
