Displaying determined hands-on leadership during the December 2015 Chennai flood crisis, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin travelled through severely impacted suburban and peri-urban zones. He conducted on-site relief distribution drives across Gummidipoondi, Puzhal, Madhavaram, Ponneri, and various neighbourhoods within his home assembly constituency of Kolathur. These northern residential hubs and industrial belts experienced catastrophic inundation as overflowing lakes, breached feeder channels, and backwaters swept into thousands of dwellings across the northern belt. Stalin navigated waterlogged streets alongside local volunteers, handing out dry ration kits, clothing, mats, clean drinking water cans, and freshly prepared food packets to stranded residents. In Kolathur, he supervised local rescue teams who used boats and improvised flotation devices to extract marooned elders and children from flooded ground floors. Stalin warmly commended the dedicated relentless dedication of party cadres who established community kitchens despite dangerous conditions and total electrical blackouts. He urged volunteers to keep monitoring vulnerable hutment settlements and low-lying settlements, providing uninterrupted sustenance until municipal drainage operations successfully evacuated excess stagnant waters and allowed vulnerable families to return safely and rebuild their reconstructed households with confidence.
