As unprecedented floodwaters inundated Chennai in early December 2015, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin took to the ground to coordinate humanitarian operations across central and western neighbourhoods. Visiting heavily submerged localities including Abhiramapuram, T Nagar, CIT Nagar, Choolaimedu, Maduravoyal, and Arumbakkam, he personally handed out essential supplies to stranded residents. Many residential colonies remained submerged under waist-deep water, cutting off power grids, municipal drinking water supplies, and access to primary healthcare facilities. Stalin supervised volunteer teams distributing hot meals, packaged drinking water, milk packets, and sanitary materials to families who had been trapped on upper floors or evacuated into makeshift community shelters. He observed firsthand the severe drainage bottlenecks and canal overflows that turned urban thoroughfares into raging streams across congested residential streets. Interacting with local citizens, Stalin condemned the administrative breakdown and failure of disaster preparedness by municipal authorities, pointing out how the complete lack of pre-monsoon desilting amplified suburban devastation throughout the metropolis. He instructed party workers to sustain relief kitchens continuously, ensuring that vulnerable residents received compassionate support and sustenance until water levels receded and municipal infrastructure could be safely restored.
