Issuing an uncompromising warning to central and state authorities, DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin declared that he would personally lead massive statewide public agitations if immediate, concrete administrative measures were not taken to remove the judicial ban on Jallikattu ahead of the Pongal harvest festival. Addressing the media in Chennai, Stalin expressed profound resentment over the continued suppression of Tamil Nadu's ancient cultural heritage and traditional sporting identity, which had been paralyzed following the legal prohibition imposed on the bull-taming sport.
Stalin criticized the ruling AIADMK government for its chronic apathy, procedural delays, and absolute failure to formulate a watertight legal defense or exert necessary political pressure on the Union government to promulgate an emergency ordinance. He noted that thirty-seven AIADMK members of Parliament had remained completely passive in New Delhi, failing to secure legislative amendments to the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act that would exempt indigenous temple bulls. Stalin emphasized that Jallikattu is not merely a sport, but an integral component of rural agrarian culture, native cattle breed conservation, and Tamil self-respect. He asserted that the DMK would never permit the erasure of Tamil cultural traditions under central dictates.
