Fulfilling a solemn commitment made during his statewide Namakku Naame journey, DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin visited the tribal villages of the Pachaimalai hill range to engage directly with the indigenous population. Stalin recalled that during his campaign halt at Thuraiyur in Tiruchirappalli district, a large delegation of tribal representatives had trekked down from Pachaimalai to participate in his public meeting, emotionally requesting him to visit their remote hilltop hamlets to witness their severe socio-economic hardships firsthand.
Keeping his word, Stalin visited several tribal habitations across the hills, inspecting crumbling school buildings, dry water borewells, and dilapidated housing colonies. He held extensive community discussions with tribal women and agriculturists who cultivate tapioca, pepper, and millets on hill slopes, noting that their produce was exploited by unscrupulous intermediaries due to the complete absence of cooperative processing and cold storage facilities. Stalin condemned the AIADMK administration for neglecting forest and tribal welfare, affirming that the Dravidian movement was founded to bring dignity and empowerment to the most marginalized sections of society. He pledged that a DMK administration would create an integrated Pachaimalai Hill Development Agency to deliver modern infrastructure.
