Engaging directly with the healthcare workforce of western Tamil Nadu, DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin participated in an extensive, productive policy interaction with government and private doctors, nursing staff, paramedical professionals, and public health experts at the Medical Conclave in Coimbatore. Stalin listened attentively to critical challenges confronting the state's public healthcare infrastructure, including severe shortages of essential diagnostic equipment, inadequate medicine supplies in rural primary health centers, and rampant administrative corruption under AIADMK tenure.
Doctors and nurses highlighted the urgent need to expand medical college hospital facilities, resolve salary anomalies, reduce extreme workload pressures on resident physicians, and regularize the services of temporary contract nurses recruited under the National Health Mission. Stalin praised the dedication of healthcare professionals who serve as the lifelines of society, recalling the transformative healthcare initiatives launched during previous DMK governance under Kalaignar Karunanidhi, including the pioneering Kalaignar Insurance Scheme and 108 emergency ambulance networks. Stalin assured the medical fraternity that the DMK's forthcoming election manifesto would prioritize public health expenditure, eliminate political interference in hospital administration, and create world-class working conditions for all healthcare workers.
