Demanding transparent accountability from the state government, DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin challenged Chief Minister Jayalalithaa to provide a factual, verifiable explanation to the people of Tamil Nadu regarding the outcomes of the much-hyped Global Investors Meet (GIM) 2015. Stalin pointed out that the AIADMK administration had spent hundreds of crores of public taxpayer money on lavish self-promotional advertisements, grandly claiming to have signed memorandums of understanding worth a staggering 2.42 lakh crore rupees and promising to generate 4.70 lakh industrial jobs for educated youth across the state.
Stalin highlighted that months after the ceremonial event, not a single major manufacturing plant had commenced construction, no fresh industrial capital had flowed into state coffers, and the promised employment opportunities had completely evaporated. He observed that investors were frightened away by persistent bureaucratic corruption, arbitrary extortion by ruling party intermediaries, and severe rolling power blackouts that paralyzed existing manufacturing units. Stalin remarked that conducting hollow summits without creating an enabling business environment was an insult to millions of unemployed youth. He demanded that the government publish a white paper listing the actual realized investments and created jobs, asserting that the public would not be deceived by paper claims.
