Transmitting the second segment of the interactive IT Professionals Town Hall live on Periscope, DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin addressed critical questions regarding civic infrastructure deficiencies and urban mobility affecting tech parks across Chennai. Speaking to hundreds of tech workers gathered in the hall, Stalin acknowledged the daily ordeal faced by commuters on the Rajiv Gandhi IT Expressway, where incomplete road widening, absent foot-over-bridges, and erratic drainage had created hazardous traffic bottlenecks.
Stalin recalled that the entire IT highway and surrounding industrial estates were originally conceived, funded, and rapidly developed during successive DMK administrations to provide world-class amenities for global technology companies. He condemned the AIADMK government for five years of complete apathy, pointing out that tolls were collected arbitrarily without providing basic road maintenance or street lighting. Stalin promised that an incoming DMK government would expedite the extension of the Chennai Metro Rail along the OMR corridor, construct modern storm-water drains, and build dedicated pedestrian pathways. He affirmed that supporting the modern tech workforce requires providing seamless civic amenities and robust infrastructure, pledging responsive urban administration and planned transport development under the DMK.
