Reaching the landmark 233rd assembly constituency in his historic Namakku Naame statewide campaign, DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin visited Thiru.Vi.Ka Nagar in Chennai, focusing sharp attention on the rights and socio-economic empowerment of the Arunthathiyar community. Addressing a massive gathering of sanitation workers, daily-wage laborers, and youth from marginalized backgrounds, Stalin recalled the historic legislative milestone achieved under DMK president Kalaignar Karunanidhi in 2009, which enacted three percent exclusive reservation for Arunthathiyars within the Scheduled Castes quota.
Stalin highlighted how that single visionary affirmative action policy had enabled thousands of meritorious young men and women from the community to secure admissions into premier medical, engineering, and arts colleges, and enter government administrative services as gazetted officers. In stark contrast, he condemned the AIADMK administration for completely neglecting Arunthathiyar welfare over five wasted years, failing to fill backlog reserved vacancies, denying housing pattas in urban resettlement colonies, and leaving municipal sanitation workers trapped in precarious, underpaid contract labor without basic protective equipment. Stalin affirmed that an incoming DMK government would protect sub-quotas, ensure permanent regularized employment for sanitation staff, and construct dignified concrete housing for all Arunthathiyar families.
