Renewing an inviolable commitment to the farmers and residents of western Tamil Nadu, DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin pledged that the long-pending Athikadavu-Avinashi groundwater recharge scheme would be fully implemented immediately upon the formation of a DMK government. Addressing agricultural federations, civil society leaders, and residents of the Coimbatore region, Stalin emphasized that this historic project was not merely an infrastructural demand, but an urgent existential lifeline for millions of farming families across Coimbatore, Tiruppur, and Erode districts.
Stalin recalled that preliminary surveys and project outlines were meticulously formulated during previous DMK governance under Kalaignar Karunanidhi to divert surplus floodwaters from the Bhavani basin to replenish more than one thousand rural irrigation tanks, ponds, and wells. He severely condemned the AIADMK administration for deliberately sabotaging the scheme over five wasted years out of pure political vendetta, reducing parched agrarian tracts to severe water distress. Stalin declared that resolving regional water crises is the sacred duty of an accountable government. He assured the public that the incoming DMK administration would sanction necessary budgetary allocations on top priority, execute technical works with speed, and bring lasting water security and agrarian prosperity to the Kongu region.
