Paying poignant respects to a fallen warrior for human rights, DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin visited the Government Royapettah Hospital mortuary in Chennai to pay heartfelt homage to Katpadi Kuppusamy, a differently abled activist who tragically lost his life during a peaceful protest. Kuppusamy had participated in an intense statewide demonstration organized by associations of the differently abled, demanding an increase in monthly disability maintenance allowances, accessible public infrastructure, and rightful reservation quotas in government employment.

Stalin condemned the ruthless callousness of Chief Minister Jayalalithaa's government, which deployed police forces to forcefully detain, drag, and arrest peaceful disabled protesters who had gathered outside government secretariats, rather than engaging in compassionate administrative dialogue. He pointed out that Kuppusamy had collapsed and succumbed to extreme physical exhaustion and stress during the unprovoked police crackdown. Stalin consoled the grieving family members and protesting disabled activists, declaring that Kuppusamy's sacrifice had exposed the sheer inhumanity of the ruling regime. He pledged that an incoming DMK administration would treat the differently abled community with profound dignity, substantially hike monthly welfare pensions, provide motorized vehicles, and guarantee barrier-free public environments across the state.
