Reacting with deep shock and profound concern over the tragic loss of a young police officer, DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin addressed the mysterious and untimely death of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Harish in Egmore, Chennai. ASP Harish, a meritorious young officer serving in the Tamil Nadu police force, was found dead under deeply distressing and suspicious circumstances, sending shockwaves through the law enforcement fraternity and the wider public across the state.
Stalin pointed out that this disturbing incident was part of a terrifying pattern of premature deaths, severe stress breakdowns, and suicides among senior and middle-ranking police officers under the AIADMK regime. He emphasized that the politicization of the police department, relentless interference from ruling party politicians in routine criminal investigations, toxic hierarchical harassment, and denial of basic operational autonomy had created an unbearable working environment for conscientious officers. Stalin demanded an immediate, independent, and high-level judicial inquiry to uncover the precise circumstances surrounding the young officer's tragic demise. He pledged that an incoming DMK government would depoliticize the police department, establish an independent police complaints authority, and provide professional psychological support to protect officers' wellbeing.
