Confronting the ruling AIADMK establishment with hard economic realities, DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin questioned the citizens of Tamil Nadu whether they could tolerate a government that systematically drove manufacturing industries away while leaving eighty-six lakh people unemployed. Stalin highlighted that due to persistent rolling power blackouts, administrative extortion, policy paralysis, and suffocating red tape, major automobile, electronics, and engineering manufacturers had relocated their planned investments to neighboring southern states over the previous five years.
Stalin pointed out that this unprecedented flight of industrial capital had dealt a catastrophic blow to the aspirations of educated youth across Tamil Nadu, with official employment exchange registers swelling to an alarming eighty-six lakh registered job seekers. Rather than creating an enabling, transparent business climate to attract domestic and foreign direct investments, the AIADMK administration was preoccupied with rent-seeking and suppressing small enterprises through arbitrary taxes. Stalin outlined the DMK's progressive industrial blueprint, which promised guaranteed round-the-clock power, single-window clearances, industrial corridor development, and specialized skill academies to train youth for modern manufacturing jobs. He called upon voters to elect the DMK to revive Tamil Nadu's industrial preeminence.
