Delivering a scathing critique of eleventh-hour electoral gimmickry, DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin condemned Chief Minister Jayalalithaa for rushing to inaugurate incomplete, half-baked infrastructure projects on the eve of the 2016 assembly polls. Stalin remarked that after remaining cloistered inside her residence for nearly five years as an inaccessible leader who spent barely thirty minutes on official state duties, the Chief Minister had suddenly embarked on a panicked blitz of hurried inaugurations to project an illusion of developmental dynamism.
Stalin highlighted numerous instances across the state where unfinished bridges, unequipped hospitals, dry drinking water pipelines, and non-functional bus terminals were formally declared open simply to beat the imminent enforcement of the election model code of conduct. He pointed out that such hasty ceremonial launches compromised public safety and insulted the intelligence of citizens, who could clearly see that construction work remained abandoned on the ground. Stalin asserted that visionary governance requires years of patient planning, transparent tendering, robust execution, and dedicated administrative follow-through rather than last-minute photo opportunities. He promised that an incoming DMK administration would systematically complete all pending civic works and deliver durable, world-class infrastructure for Tamil Nadu.
