DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin declared on March 20, 2016, that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the Dravidar Kazhagam would forever function like a double-barrelled gun to defend social justice and equality in Tamil Nadu. Stalin invoked the historic phrase coined by Periyar E.V. Ramasamy and nurtured by CN Annadurai and Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi to describe the indissoluble bond between the twin streams of the Dravidian movement.

Stalin emphasized that while the Dravidar Kazhagam works tirelessly as a social reform movement awakening public consciousness against caste oppression, the DMK serves as its legislative and administrative vehicle to translate social justice principles into binding statutory policies, reservations, and affirmative welfare laws. He warned that conservative forces were continually attempting to undermine reservation benefits, dilute federal rights, and reintroduce caste hierarchies through covert administrative maneuvers.

Stalin declared that the ideological unity between DMK and DK remains invincible in confronting reactionary agendas. He pledged that both organizations will persistently fight hand in hand to protect backward classes, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and minorities, guaranteeing dignity, equal opportunities, and progressive emancipation across Tamil society without compromise.
