DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin reiterated his solemn public pledge on March 21, 2016, to reinstate thousands of Makkal Nala Panigalargal who were unjustly dismissed from their jobs by the AIADMK administration. Stalin recalled that during his extensive Namakku Naame statewide tour, affected village welfare workers had met him in tears, recounting years of legal battles, economic destitution, and administrative harassment.
Stalin strongly condemned the vindictive political decision that stripped over 13,000 rural welfare workers of their livelihoods simply because their positions had been established during previous DMK governance to assist village panchayats. He pointed out that despite repeated favorable court verdicts ordering their reinstatement, the ruling government persistently appealed against the workers, spending public funds to deny them legitimate employment and dignity.
Stalin affirmed that restoring these workers to their rightful posts is a matter of administrative justice and basic humanitarian honor for the DMK. He promised that immediately upon assuming office, the party would issue executive orders reinstating all Makkal Nala Panigalargal with pay protection and service continuity, ensuring their vital community development contributions are recognized and honored across rural local bodies.
