Touring the southern agrarian districts of Theni and Dindigul, DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin severely indicted the ruling AIADMK for inflicting chronic infrastructural stagnation on the region despite having its most powerful cabinet ministers elected from here. Addressing massive campaign rallies, Stalin pointed out that Finance Minister O. Panneerselvam and Electricity Minister Natham Viswanathan enjoyed supreme executive authority in Chennai, yet their own home constituencies and surrounding districts suffered from severe drinking water shortages, dilapidated roads, and dying local industries.
Stalin drew attention to the plight of cardamom, coffee, and horticultural cultivators in Theni, as well as the historic lock and textile manufacturers in Dindigul, who had been completely abandoned without cold storage units, marketing facilities, or power subsidies. He observed that ministers were completely absorbed in factional infighting and accumulating personal wealth rather than serving the electorate that elected them. Stalin blamed the broader governance paralysis on an absentee Chief Minister who remained cloistered behind closed doors while ordinary citizens endured economic misery. He promised that an incoming DMK government would establish modern food processing parks, upgrade irrigation canals, and restore accountable governance across the southern districts.
