Launching a scathing attack on the high-handedness and feudal mindset of the AIADMK leadership, DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin condemned Chief Minister Jayalalithaa for ruthlessly destroying standing crops and fertile farmlands simply to construct temporary helipads for her brief campaign visits. Speaking to distraught farmers in the agrarian belt, Stalin expressed anguish that acres of standing coconut plantations and parched crops were bulldozed without consent or compensation, exposing the ruling regime's sheer contempt for the hard labor of agriculturists.
Stalin highlighted the acute economic distress of coconut growers across western and southern Tamil Nadu, noting that despite solemn promises to triple farmers' incomes, the AIADMK failed to fix remunerative minimum support prices for copra, promote value-added coconut products, or provide disease-management subsidies. He recalled how the promised textile and apparel parks that were supposed to generate tens of thousands of rural jobs remained abandoned on paper. Stalin affirmed that while the Chief Minister viewed Tamil Nadu's farmland from a helicopter, the DMK walked alongside farmers to understand their genuine pain. He pledged that a DMK administration would compensate affected farmers, establish integrated coconut processing hubs, and provide subsidized power to rejuvenate rural livelihoods.
