Addressing the pressing economic aspirations of rural artisans and industrial workers, DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin outlined a transformative roadmap for silk weaving and rural industrialization during his election campaign in Kancheepuram district. Stalin expressed deep anguish over the declining fortunes of the historic handloom and powerloom silk weaving industry, which had suffered from exorbitant raw silk prices, obsolete technology, lack of marketing channels, and chronic neglect by the AIADMK government. Hundreds of skilled artisan families were abandoning their ancestral craft due to crushing debt and negligible earnings.

Stalin announced that an incoming DMK administration would establish a world-class integrated Silk Park in Kancheepuram, providing centralized reeling, testing, modern dyeing, and automated weaving facilities under one roof. The park would eliminate exploitative intermediaries, guarantee remunerative purchase prices, and connect local weavers directly with global fashion and textile markets. He also pledged substantial free electricity quotas, interest-free working capital loans, and specialized healthcare schemes for weaver households. Stalin emphasized that rural industrial parks and agro-textile hubs would generate thousands of sustainable jobs for educated rural youth, revitalizing traditional artisan communities and fostering balanced regional economic development.
