Campaigning across six assembly constituencies in Thoothukudi district, DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin delivered a scathing indictment of the AIADMK government's five years of unfulfilled electoral promises. Speaking before thousands of residents, industrial workers, and youth, Stalin highlighted how major development projects that were conceptualized and initiated during the DMK administration were deliberately sabotaged and delayed under Chief Minister Jayalalithaa's tenure. He singled out the vital 1,320 MW Udangudi supercritical thermal power project, which remained hopelessly mired in tender irregularities, official inertia, and unnecessary litigation due to bureaucratic mismanagement.
Stalin pointed out that delaying the Udangudi plant deprived southern districts of reliable electricity, inflicted severe power shortages on local industries, and blocked thousands of engineering jobs for educated local youth. He similarly criticized the ruling party for abandoning the planned information technology park in Thoothukudi, forcing young professionals to migrate away from their hometowns. Stalin pledged that a DMK administration would expedite the Udangudi project transparently, build modern industrial infrastructure, and foster port-linked manufacturing corridors across southern Tamil Nadu. He called upon Thoothukudi voters to decisively reject the AIADMK's broken promises and elect the DMK alliance.
