Marking a crucial milestone in the 2016 Tamil Nadu legislative assembly elections, DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin formally submitted his nomination papers as the party's candidate from Kolathur constituency. Accompanied by thousands of jubilant party cadres, alliance partners, and local residents who gathered in solidarity, Stalin presented his nomination to the election returning officer. He expressed deep personal humility and immense pride in seeking re-election from Kolathur, describing the constituency as his political family where every street and neighborhood held shared memories of grassroots work and public service.
Reflecting on his legislative tenure, Stalin noted that despite the hostile attitude of the AIADMK administration, which systematically stalled local development funds, he remained accessible around the clock to address citizens' concerns. He reiterated that his candidacy symbolized the aspirations of ordinary working families striving for clean governance, quality municipal services, better schooling for their children, and dignified economic opportunities. Emphasizing that the 2016 election represented a historic battle to liberate Tamil Nadu from misrule and corruption, Stalin dedicated his candidacy to the welfare of the people of Kolathur and the entire state.
