During an extensive election tour through the Nilgiris district, DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin sharply indicted the ruling AIADMK government for squandering development opportunities and abandoning critical infrastructure initiatives over five years of misrule. Addressing packed public rallies in the hill towns, Stalin highlighted how the state government completely shelved the long-conceived Silahalla pumped-storage hydroelectric project. This vital power venture, planned to augment clean energy generation for Tamil Nadu's grid while providing sustainable local employment, was left completely neglected due to administrative paralysis.
Stalin further pointed out that the AIADMK regime failed miserably to deliver the promised information technology park in the hills, leaving educated local youth with no option other than distressing out-migration to distant urban centers. At the same time, basic tourist infrastructure, hill roads, and municipal sanitation facilities had deteriorated, badly harming the district's hospitality trade and fragile ecosystem. Stalin assured the people of the Nilgiris that the DMK would revive sustainable hydro-energy generation, build environmentally sensitive eco-tourism infrastructure, and create decentralized tech hubs. He urged the hill community to elect the DMK alliance to usher in balanced, forward-looking regional development.
