Unveiling an ambitious revival plan for the hill economy of the Nilgiris, DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin articulated a vision to restore the global reputation of Nilgiris tea while safeguarding the livelihoods of small tea growers and plantation laborers. Speaking at campaign events across the district, Stalin expressed deep concern over the steep collapse of green tea leaf prices, which had pushed thousands of smallholder families into unmanageable debt due to AIADMK inaction and lack of cooperative market support.

Stalin pledged that an incoming DMK administration would fix a remunerative minimum support price (MSP) for green tea leaves, eliminate cartelization among bought-leaf factories, and provide substantial subsidies for value addition, packaging, modern warehousing, and branding to establish Nilgiris tea as a premier global brand. For the hardworking plantation workforce, Stalin guaranteed policies ensuring permanent employment status, fair living wages, modern housing, and the establishment of a state-of-the-art super-specialty hospital in the district to provide advanced healthcare. He reaffirmed that the DMK recognizes the unique environmental and socio-economic dynamics of the Nilgiris and would champion equitable, eco-friendly prosperity for all residents of the hills.
