#DMK2016 manifesto ensures transporters will get pension & welfare board, Rs.3 lakh housing subsidy for weavers & bring industries to TN
Presenting the transformative socio-economic roadmap formulated in the DMK 2016 election manifesto, DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin emphasized the party's unwavering dedication to the welfare of Tamil Nadu's working-class population. Speaking at a campaign rally, Stalin highlighted groundbreaking policy guarantees specifically targeted at supporting neglected occupational communities. For the transport sector, the manifesto assured the establishment of an exclusive welfare board alongside statutory pension schemes to provide dignified financial security for thousands of private and public transit operators, drivers, and auto-rickshaw crews.
Addressing the acute economic distress faced by traditional weaving communities, Stalin announced a substantial three-lakh-rupee housing subsidy to enable handloom and powerloom weavers to build secure, pucca homes with integrated weaving spaces. In addition, the manifesto pledged free electricity allocations, yarn price stabilization funds, and cooperative loan waivers to rejuvenate handloom clusters across the state. Stalin emphasized that alongside targeted welfare safety nets, the DMK would aggressively pursue industrial investments to generate massive employment opportunities for youth. He assured the working masses that every commitment made in the manifesto would be implemented with administrative rigour, restoring economic security and prosperity across Tamil Nadu.
