DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin led an extensive election campaign tour across Thanjavur district, the agricultural rice bowl of Tamil Nadu, interacting directly with farmers, agricultural laborers, and rural families to outline the party's roadmap for agrarian revival. Addressing meetings across rural blocks, Stalin recalled the landmark achievements of previous DMK governments under Muthamizharignar Kalaignar that transformed delta agriculture, notably the historic seven thousand crore rupee cooperative farm loan waiver enacted in 2006.
Listening to cultivators grappling with severe drought and parched samba crops, Stalin condemned the AIADMK administration for neglecting canal desilting, failing to disburse crop insurance compensations, and abandoning farmers during acute water distress. He explained the DMK's 2016 manifesto commitments, which guaranteed an immediate waiver of all agricultural loans taken from cooperative banks, free three-phase electricity for agriculture without interruptions, and enhanced minimum support prices for paddy. Stalin promised to establish modern agro-processing hubs and cold storage facilities in Thanjavur to ensure fair remuneration for farmers. He assured cultivators that defending Tamil Nadu's riparian rights on the Cauvery river would remain the DMK's foremost priority.
Stalin urged Thanjavur voters to support the DMK decisively to restore dignity and prosperity to farming communities.
