DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin unveiled significant urban infrastructure and connectivity commitments for the Cauvery delta region during his election campaign, pledging that an incoming DMK government will upgrade the historic temple town of Tiruvarur into a full-fledged municipal corporation. Addressing election rallies in Tiruvarur, the native assembly constituency of DMK president Muthamizharignar Kalaignar, Stalin outlined a transformative developmental vision to elevate civic amenities and regional mobility.

Stalin explained that upgrading Tiruvarur to municipal corporation status would unlock substantial infrastructure funding for modern underground sewerage systems, stormwater drain networks, solid waste processing plants, and expanded road corridors. To stimulate agricultural trade, tourism, and passenger transit, Stalin assured that the DMK will actively pursue with the Union Railway Ministry the sanctioning of new railway lines linking Tiruvarur with neighboring coastal and agricultural centers, including Nagapattinam, Karaikal, Thanjavur, and Mayiladuthurai. Faster rail connectivity would enable delta farmers to transport paddy and perishables to major markets without exorbitant freight charges. Stalin emphasized that Tiruvarur, as the spiritual and cultural heart of the delta, deserved world-class civic infrastructure.

Stalin urged voters to support the DMK alliance overwhelmingly to drive balanced urban and rural progress.
