DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin gracefully accepted the democratic mandate delivered by the electorate in the 2016 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections, affirming that the DMK wholeheartedly respects the people's verdict with utmost humility. Congratulating AIADMK general secretary J. Jayalalithaa on securing another mandate, Stalin stated that the DMK will discharge its constitutional role as an alert, constructive, and responsible opposition party.

Stalin pointed out that while the AIADMK secured a narrow legislative majority, the election results demonstrated massive public support for the DMK, which captured eighty-nine seats on its own and ninety-eight seats alongside its allies. This historic outcome created the strongest opposition presence in Tamil Nadu's legislative annals. Stalin emphasized that the DMK would not act as a mere adversarial force, but would vigorously monitor governance, defend democratic conventions, and ensure that the government delivers on its electoral commitments. He commended millions of party cadres, allies, and voters whose dedicated efforts elevated the DMK's vote share significantly across all regions of the state.

Stalin reaffirmed that the DMK will persistently champion citizens' rights and public welfare with unyielding commitment inside and outside the Assembly.
