Demonstrating exemplary political grace and democratic maturity, DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin attended the official swearing-in ceremony of AIADMK general secretary J. Jayalalithaa as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu at Madras University Centenary Auditorium in Chennai. Accompanied by senior DMK leaders, Stalin's gracious presence at the oath-taking event marked a refreshing departure from decades of bitter inter-party hostility, setting a high standard for political culture in the state.
Following the ceremony, Stalin extended his best wishes to the newly sworn-in Chief Minister and her cabinet colleagues. He expressed sincere hope that the ruling administration would work diligently and proactively to fulfill its campaign promises made to the electorate, including total liquor prohibition, farm debt relief, and price stabilization. Stalin emphasized that while the DMK had assumed the constitutional role of the principal opposition with eighty-nine members in the Assembly, it would practice principled, issue-based politics. He stated that the DMK would support genuine public welfare measures while vigilantly questioning administrative failures, government lethargy, and corruption.
Stalin reiterated that constructive dialogue between treasury and opposition benches is essential to safeguard the welfare and progress of Tamil Nadu.
