மாணவர்களின் கல்வித் தரத்தை உயர்த்த பல்கலைக்கழகங்களில் சிறந்த துணை வேந்தர்களை வெளிப்படையான நடைமுறைகள் மூலம் தமிழக அரசு நியமிக்க வேண்டும்.

DMK treasurer and Leader of Opposition M.K. Stalin urged the AIADMK state government to institute rigorous, transparent, and merit-based procedures for appointing Vice-Chancellors across state universities to elevate the quality of higher education and restore academic integrity in Tamil Nadu. He stressed that commercialization and political interference in the selection of university leadership had severely degraded the reputation of historic state institutions.

Stalin pointed out that several premier universities, including the University of Madras, Madurai Kamaraj University, and Anna University, had remained headless for prolonged periods or suffered under questionable appointments influenced by monetary kickbacks and bureaucratic nepotism rather than scholarly credentials. Search panels often functioned in an opaque manner, disregarding University Grants Commission (UGC) regulations and overlooking eminent academicians with international research standing. Consequently, academic research standards had plunged, faculty recruitments were compromised, and state universities had slipped precipitously in national institutional rankings. Stalin emphasized that universities are centers of intellectual enlightenment and research innovation, not commercial fiefdoms for political patronage.

Stalin demanded that the government formulate clear statutory guidelines to select Vice-Chancellors through open, transparent, and merit-driven search processes across Tamil Nadu.
