DMK treasurer and Leader of Opposition M.K. Stalin expressed profound shock and deep indignation over the horrifying killing of six women across Chennai within a span of twenty-four hours, stating that the unprecedented spree of violent crime had shattered the city's reputation as a safe haven for women. The gruesome murders included the hacking of young software engineer S. Swathi at Nungambakkam railway station in broad daylight before hundreds of commuters.
Stalin pointed out that other horrific incidents reported during the same twenty-four-hour period included the brutal hacking of an advocate at her residence, an elderly woman murdered in Minjur, and killings in Kolathur and Tambaram. He emphasized that the terrifying frequency and brutality of these attacks proved that anti-social elements operated without fear of law enforcement. Chennai, which was once celebrated globally as one of the safest metropolitan cities for working women and students, was rapidly deteriorating into a haven for reckless criminals under AIADMK misrule. Stalin condemned the state intelligence and city police for gross surveillance failure and total absence of visible beat patrolling.
Stalin demanded that the state government immediately establish special fast-track investigation wings and install comprehensive surveillance networks across all transit centers.
