DMK treasurer and Leader of Opposition M.K. Stalin extended warm felicitations and profound gratitude to the medical fraternity across Tamil Nadu and India on the occasion of National Doctors' Day. He lauded doctors, resident physicians, and healthcare professionals for their relentless dedication and selfless humanitarian service in healing the sick, saving precious lives, and safeguarding public health under demanding circumstances.
Stalin appealed to the medical community to continue upholding the noble ethics of their healing vocation by ensuring that quality healthcare remains accessible and affordable to ordinary citizens, marginalized communities, and working-class families. He observed that while medical science and clinical technologies had advanced remarkably, commercialization of tertiary medical care had placed sophisticated treatments beyond the reach of the poor. Stalin emphasized that public healthcare was a fundamental human right. He highlighted the DMK's historic contributions in building an extensive network of government medical colleges, primary health centers, and comprehensive health insurance schemes across Tamil Nadu. He called upon both state and central governments to significantly increase public health expenditure and improve working conditions for government doctors.
Stalin reiterated that strengthening public healthcare infrastructure is vital to support dedicated physicians in serving humanity.
