DMK treasurer and Leader of Opposition M.K. Stalin expressed immense distress and deep concern upon learning of the tragic demise of Dr. Saravanan Ganesan, a twenty-six-year-old postgraduate medical scholar from Tamil Nadu studying at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi. He called upon both the Union government and the Tamil Nadu state administration to immediately order a comprehensive and transparent high-level inquiry to unearth the truth behind the suspicious death.
Dr. Saravanan was discovered dead in his rented accommodation in South Delhi under circumstances that pointed towards severe anomalies and potential foul play. Stalin emphasized that when bright young students from rural and underprivileged backgrounds achieve academic excellence to enter apex national institutions, their physical safety, psychological well-being, and academic freedom must be guaranteed by the state. He warned against hasty official conclusions seeking to dismiss such tragic incidents without thorough forensic and criminal examination. Stalin urged the Union Health Ministry and Delhi Police to conduct an unsparing probe, interrogating all relevant persons and examining potential harassment or institutional pressures.
Stalin insisted that the Tamil Nadu government actively pursue the case with central authorities to guarantee justice.
