DMK treasurer and Leader of Opposition M.K. Stalin led a historic and unprecedented 'model' legislative assembly session on the lawns of the Fort St. George Secretariat complex in Chennai alongside suspended DMK legislators. The demonstration was organized to protest the high-handed, unconstitutional en masse suspension of eighty-nine DMK MLAs for a week by the Assembly Speaker P. Dhanapal following heated debates in the House.

With veteran deputy leader of opposition Duraimurugan acting as Speaker, the mock session adhered strictly to legislative rules of procedure, raising people's pressing issues including the Cauvery water dispute, dengue outbreak, and farmer distress. Stalin addressed the mock assembly, condemning the ruling AIADMK for turning the sacred legislative hall into an authoritarian chamber where the main opposition party was systematically silenced and denied democratic speaking time. He pointed out that barring eighty-nine elected legislators representing millions of voters was an assault on parliamentary democracy. Stalin emphasized that the DMK would never abandon its constitutional mandate to hold the executive accountable, whether inside the chamber or on public streets.

Stalin asserted that the DMK will persistently fight against legislative autocracy to uphold the sanctity of democratic institutions in Tamil Nadu.
